Hi all!
We got up in the early morning to the sound of a crazy windstorm going on outside. Way too windy to open the nets, but not for a nice rough legged buzzard (fjellvåk) who seemed to enjoy the weather conditions more than us and hovered around for a while before leaving again.
A bit later as the day went on, we tried opening the inner nets, that are more protected from the wind. The wind was indeed a bit quieter there, but the bird activity was non-existent, and we only caught 3 birds for the whole day! One of them was a beautiful male Redpoll.
Our attempts at birding around the island were also unsuccessful, with virtually nothing around, except for a nice visit by a sea eagle (havørn), and a second rough legged buzzard (fjellvåk) that flew by in the afternoon.
According to the forecasts, it seems like we should get used to this weather for a few days at least… Let’s hope they are wrong!
