Hello everyone! Despite the good weather, the ringing today was really slow. There were very few active birds, we kept retrapping the same birds over and over again as they seemed to be the only ones flying around. The waxwings seem to have flown away except for the last one of the flock, who was waiting for us perched on top of the net’s pole! It later flew in the net and let us see its beautiful red waxy tips. Later, an afternoon surprise was singing an a cappella solo concert in the net: Great spotted woodpeckers are well known for being quite loud when caught. Dagens bråkebøtte - høstens nummer 61 - og vi har ringmerket 69 flaggspett i år - neste beste år etter 2013 med 111 fugler ringmerket. Tomorrow morning is supposed to be the day where everyone gets more sleep due to the switch to winter time, but we will keep on getting up before the sun to open our nets, hoping for some more Norwegian birds!
