Today was the second best day since the beginning of our stay with 85 birds ringed. Willow warblers and Chiffchaff were the more numerous, with respectively 38 and 18 birds ringed. We got birds all along the day, that was fortunate for our three visitors who stayed a big part of the day. Just before their arrival we got a surprise in the net, a sparrowhawk! There was also a fair amount of movement through the day with 52 species on the list, among which a calling stonechat was the most uncommon one for the island. Another good surprise spotted by Halvard while driving the boat was a grey seal sunbathing among the harbour seal. And after two weeks on this still amazingly beautiful island, like the birds, the French Girls are going to fly tomorrow and get back home in France. We wish good luck and plenty of good birds to Halvard who’s taking the lead from tomorrow.
