Two chiffchaffs were ringed today. One of them (photo) was probably a Siberian chiffchaff (P. c. tristis) with pure grey upperparts and very whitish below. The long and distinctly buff-white supercilium is typical. No calls were noted. Our last ringed redwing for this autumn, a fist year bird. Unfortunately European populations have declined strongly the last decades. Hi,
Still and always windy for our last morning of ringing, but this time it weakened during the morning with a timid sun but which warms well, winter is slow to come. A few arrivals of birds on the island during the night, with several blackbirds and also some chiffchaffs including one of the Siberian race tristis ‘Siberian Chiffchaff’, with its typical flat grey and its cold hues. Captures counts 28 gjerdesmett 3, rødstrupe 2, Svarttrost 4, rødvingetrost 1, måltrost 1, fuglekonge 2, gransanger 2, bergirsik 4, grønnsisik 1, munk 1, grønnfink 7. On the bird watching, the presence of several sparrowhawks since yesterday and regular groups of the magnificent twite. Thank you to everyone we met for your hospitality and generosity, and we hope to see you again next year. Greetings, Sebastien and Henry
