Another quiet but very warm and nice day at store færder! Nets up at 5:45. In the early morning,a few blackbirds(svarttrost) were singing around, couple of chaffinches(bokfink), one song trush (måltrost), not much really. but the nets remained empty most of the time with only 5 birds ringed today: 3 jernspurv, 1 grønnsisik, 1 brunnsisik, Birds and seals also seemed to enjoy the warm sun today. And we also had a veeeeery long demonstration of 4 herring gulls sitting just outside the cabin. Sometimes, they looked like they were in courtship but the whole show didn't really lead anywhere and we had some good laugh trying to understand their strange behaviour. But what about the title of this post? Well, in the evening, while we were having dinner, I suddendly stand up and point at the sparrowhawk (spurvehauk) that just flew in the net. We both started running towards the door but... we had no shoes on! We put them on as quicky as we could, not lacing them, but when Violaine arrived at the beginning of the net, the bird managed to get out of the net and flew away in front of our disappointed eyes... As I am writing right now, I still have my shoes on...  A very NOT ringed siskin   Everyone enjoys the spring sun today Epilogue : And here I was, thinking that I had finished the blog, but yet another surprise just popped up: Violaine is at the window with a wheatear in the hand (steinskvett)!! Well, this is definitely a good way to end this day!
