A first year male (juv outer g.c.) Eurasian sisken is being examined and ringed. Several flocks each day now. Hello everyone,
The rain and wind were very strong today. We were only able to partially open the station. Hans Petter left early in the morning before the storm that hit us this evening. Captures counts 35 (gjerdesmett 2, svarttrost 5, rødvingetrost 1, fuglekonge 17, gransanger 1, grønnfink 6, grønnsisik1 and trekryper 2). We are satisfied with this day because we captured birds in good health. The mass of the goldcrests was much higher than on previous days. The heaviest weighed 7.2 grams, which is record high, while the previous days we had a majority of birds with a mass of 5.5 g. This data is important to argue the course of the migration of this species so small that travels such a long distance. We are waiting for the storm!" Best regards Sebastien and Henry

How can variations in the physical condition, such as the increased mass of goldcrests observed during migration, be used to enhance our understanding of the factors influencing long-distance migration patterns, and what additional data might be needed to strengthen these conclusions?
