Early morning sunrise looking south towards "Knappeskjær". Plenty of southerly winds, and mild for late October. A first year lesser redpoll (A. f. cabaret) has just been ringed. Good numbers for this "species" so far, but where have all the common and arctic redpolls gone? Hi,
The days follow one another and are similar on the station: the wind does not calm down, it blows hard and prevents us from opening all the nets again. Despite a very promising sunrise, the results of the day remain well below the figures achieved at the beginning of our stay. Despite the night which was starry, the wind direction does not seem favorable to bring new birds to the island. The first rounds bring some captures but the following ones are almost empty. Captures counts 10: gjerdesmett 1, rødstrupe 2, svarttrost 1, , fuglekonge 2, bergirsik 3, brunsisik 1. We observe with luck a few flights of geese above the island. Best regards Sebastien and Henry
