Bramblings (here a 1k male), thrushes and several other bird species are happily feeding on the large amounts of rowan berries everywhere on the island this year. Hi,
After the failure of a night where we waited for the Tengmalm's owl until 2 am, the wind strengthened during the night and the birds visibly left the island before the opening of the nets. The wind became strong in the early afternoon but we were able to keep the nets open until mid-afternoon and ringed a total of 41 birds (gerdesmett 19, rødstrupe 2, svarttost 4, måltrost 1, fuglekonge 8 and grønnfink 5). The highlight of the day was a grey shrike in the north island. We remain optimistic for the rest of the week, because the berries are abundant on the island as shown in the photo of the brambling feasting on the rowan berries." Best regards Sebastien and Henry.
