Twite (bergirisk) photographed on Hoftøya where they gather in variable numbers to feed in October - November. Hans Petter ringing Eurasian siskins (grønnsisik), which has had a good breeding season this year. Hello everyone,
After another rainy night, the weather was mild and without rain when we woke up. So again, a day of ringing in the company of Hans Petter during which we shared good times. We observed an active migration of Eurasian siskins (grønnsisik) throughout the morning. A few groups of siskins landed near the nets which allowed us to capture and ring in all 30 individuals, and thus compare the age and sex criteria of this species with Hans Petter and the station photo guide. Ringing totals 41 (gjerdesmett 3, svarttrost 1, munk 2, gransanger 3, grønnfink 1, grønnsisik 30, brunsisik 1). Apart from these groups of siskins the island is desperately empty of birds, we managed to confirm the presence of the grey shrike near the cabin and a bat hunting at dusk. At the end of the day we visited the neighboring island Hoftøya, and we observed a group of about fifteen twites. We were also lucky enough to see 3 black guillemots close to the boat. Best regards Sebastien, Henry and Hans Petter
